About us

The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party which believes that by the strength of our common endeavour, we achieve more than we achieve alone.

"We are a campaigning organisation devoted to addressing issues which affect the community of Pontypridd and beyond. You may be disengaged with Political processes, but Politics is about real people and how things affect their lives. We are a group of like-minded, hard working individuals who devote our time and energies to listen to and address the concerns of the community in which we live.

Not only does the Labour Party consist of our excellent elected representatives, such as Owen Smith MP and Mick Antoniw AM, who are our voices in Parliament and at the Welsh Assembly or your RCT and Town Council members, but also consists of an army of volunteers and Trade Union partners who care deeply about the quality of life of the people of Pontypridd.

We welcome new members and supporters and will ensure that you have a warm welcome in the Labour family. If you care about an issue, don't just talk about it, get involved and make a real difference!"

Jayne Brencher,
Chair, Pontypridd Constituency Labour Party and member of Welsh Labour Executive Committee

  1. Dear Labour Party members,
I am just writing to let you know that on June 30th my Lewes Labour Branch (East Sussex) voted 70 to 44 to support Jeremy Corbyn.
    Yours in solidarity,

    2. Have another vote now he's been caught lying about the events of a train journey.

If I were Virgin Trains I would sue him for criminal libel. There is ample CCTV evidence of what happened and the times the videos were taken and the number of passengers on the train at any given time can be verified from record. The staff can also give evidence.

If Corbyn tries to defend it by making an false statement he can be convicted of perverting the course of Justice. If Branson sues him Corbyn will certainly have to settle out of court and the consequences of defaming a train operator in the way he did would attract big damages. This was deliberate and elaborate professionally executed fraud.

Doesn't this go to show Corbyn's bad character. And it appeared on the News alongside the fantastic Team GB athletes who won 27 Gold Medals for us 19 for England 4 for Wales and 4 for Scotland. What a contrast in the quality of people compared with Corbyn and his supporters.

  2. Owen Smith's statement that Labour will not support triggering Article 50 unless Theresa May 'commits' to another Referendum on the outcome of the subsequent 'negotiations' is mind boggling.
What purpose does Smith think such a Referendum would serve?
If Article 50 is triggered Britain is legally obliged to leave within two years with whatever deal it negotiates. It doesn't matter what the conclusion of any any subsequent Referendum is. There is no provision in the Lisbon Treaty for a country which has triggered Article 50 to change its mind. Any Referendum on whatever terms are negotiated will be a 'take it or leave it'. If we say Yes we will get what has been negotiated. If we say No we will leave the EU with no deal at all.
The mandate to trigger Article 50 or to leave by some other means following a Leave Vote arises from the 2015 Tory Manifesto. The Manifesto said that a Tory Government will abide by the result of the Referendum. The Referendum said Leave. So we are leaving whatever Owen Smith and the SNP have to say about it.
The mandate was established when Labour failed to stop the Tories getting an overall majority in 2015. And that overall majority is due in no small measure to Nicola Sturgeon aggravating English and Welsh voters, and Labour refusing to commit to a Referendum itself. Without Sturgeon and the Tory overall majority, there would have been no Referendum and so no Leave Vote.
It's too late now Owen and Nicola.

  3. Strange that one of the founders of a health system for the working man ,Dr William Price should be forgotten in Pontypridd . I believe Owen Smith under millionaire Tony Blair leadership had ideas to privatise the NHS.
I bet all of J Corbyns critics Blair ,Kinnock ,Milliband,Hodge,Foster.... to name a few ,wouldn't work for £8 an hour with no extra for overtime as do the Ambulance crew for some of the privatised Ambulance Services.
Betrayal of your forefather who fought and gave there lives for change.
